Nine Boaters Rescued by Wolfeboro Fire- Rescue

(Group 2) WOLFEBORO - Nine people were rescued from the chilly waters of Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfeboro on Monday, May 25 after their boat capsized in high winds. Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue was called to the area off Clark Point at 5:20 p.m. Fire-Rescue personnel responded in Boat 1 and found nine people in the water. The boaters were brought aboard and transported to Dockside from which they were transported to Huggins Hospital
by Lakeside Ambulance. A tenth boater made it to shore and declined treatment. The boat was recovered and towed to shore by a private firm. Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue was assisted by Lakeside Ambulance, Tuftonboro Fire-Rescue, Alton Fire-Rescue, Wolfeboro Police, and
the N.H. Marine Patrol. At 7:13 p.m. Wolfeboro Fire-Rescue was called to Lake Winnipesaukee at the end of Lake Street for fuel in the water. The boat from the earlier call had been towed to
the Corinthian Yacht Club, where it was leaking fuel. Booms were placed in the water to contain the fuel, and the N.H. Department of Environmental Services was notified.
